When I made it to the Police Station I'm glad to see it in HD, everything was familiar yet not totally the same. Leon's story starts at a gas station, he and Claire were separated by an explosion. His part relates Ada and Claire's part is with Sherry, though both protagonists share the same Police Station walkthrough. I got the idea, most games feature autosave, RE 2 already restrained save place, limit the save would be too unfriendly for players nowadays, yet it also lowered the difficulty. I remember most of it, the biggest difference in the new game would be removing the ink ribbon for the printer, which was an essential and limited item to save in the original.
I played the original game 2 decades ago on PC, then on PSP, and now comes the remaster. CAPCOM did more than HDed the original game, they also added new contents, a nice game both for fans and new players, no wonder the overwhelming positive rating, totally deserves.
